Hello From Puerto Morelos

I am sitting in the courtyard of a small hotel in Puerto Morelos, Mexico using their free wi-fi. I just wanted to stop by and let everyone know we made it safely to our destination. It is sunny this morning. the temperature is hovering around 80 degrees. I am looking out over the Caribbean Ocean, and it is calm, turquoise blue and stunningly beautiful. Today does not hold a lot of adventure for us. We are off to find me a hat so my delicate, baby-like skin does not get fried in the sun. Then, we will head out to the beach for a while to sit and soak up some rays. Well, Joan will soak up the rays. I will be thoroughly covered from head to toe and any visible skin will be swathed in a think coat of sunblock to protect my delicate, baby-like skin.

When we got here yesterday, we walked into town to buy a few supplies and to get a bite of dinner. We ate at this quaint restaurant that served the best guacamole and pico de gallo I have ever eaten. Joan had nachos. I had chicken nachos. we both had a Coke. By the way, Cokes are better in Mexico. They still make them with cane sugar and not corn syrup. The difference is worth the distance. they remind me of the soft drinks of my youth. The bill was just over $10.00. Cheap, delicious and filling. Well, I had better go for now. We have a hard day of nothing to do. I will check in manana, if possible.

Off To Cancun

Actually, we are headed to Puerto Morelos, Mexico for the next several days. You hate me I know, but we are taking some much needed R and R, so deal with it. You can have your frosty mornings, your ice and your snow. I am headed were it is 80 degrees in the daytime and 60 at night. Anywy, pray for us as we travel. I will post pics as time and desire allow.

Well, we survived the infamous body scanner this morning. I figured they could see me in all my glory if they could stomach it. My lovely wife got both thevscanner and the patdown she just had a big old morning of TSA goodness, of course, the TSA agent who administered the patdown indicated that she wasn’t too thrilled about the process either. We laugh, but as we do, our rights as citizens are being eroded every day.

Adios amigos.

Another Great Night Of Meeting

We met again with the folk at Higher Ground Baptist in Gadsden, AL. We had a wonderful time on the Lord. Once again, the Spirit of the Lord moved in this precious church and we went to meeting. The Lord allowed us to worship and enjoy His sweet presence. Unlike a lot of places in our day, this church is alive with the joy of the Lord. His presence is sweet, rich and powerful and I am grateful for the privilege to minister here during these special days of meeting. Please remember us in your prayers as we conclude the meeting this evening. Pray for this church and their Pastor James Wallace. I am expecting to hear great things from this congregation in the days ahead.

Higher Ground Baptist Church

We are at Higher Ground Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL this week. The pastor is James Wallace. The meeting got off to a great start last evening. In spite of a rain storm, the attendance was good, and the presence of the Holy Spirit was powerful. The Lord blessed in the singing, the preaching and the invitation. Please remember us as the week progresses. Pray that God will give us the help we need and that this good church will grow and be blessed.

As some of you may have noticed, I have finally gotten around to updating my sermons. After all the E-mails I received from preachers asking for new material I thought I would take the time to post some. I know the letters of gratitude are mere seconds away from pouring. Anyway, don’t go to sleep as you read the new posts.

God bless you folks and thanks for making The Sermon Notebook one of the most visited sermons sites in the world.

Great Week Of Meeting

The Southeastern Bible Conference has been a blessing. The Lord has moved in power in each service and I praise Him for that. The people seem hungry for the Word and they are very responsive, both during the preaching and in the invitation. I feel honored to be allowed to be a part of the meeting this year. Lord willing, we will finish the meeting this evening. This meeting has been going on for several years. For a long time, it operated under the title of The Old Dock Bible Conference. Now, it is called the Southeastern Bible Conference. It is made up of several local churches and it is hosted each year by a different church. This yea, it is hosted by Sandy Plain Baptist Church. The Pastor of Sandy Plain, Brother Sterling Sarvis, is the moderator. Please pray for this final night of the meeting, and pray for the future meetings of the Southeastern Bible Conference.

Southeast Bible Conference

I am in Tabor City, NC this for the Southeast Bible Conference. Actually, Joan and I are staying in a condo in N. Myrtle Beach, SC this week. (Thanks Chris and Bianca!!) At any rate, the meeting got off to a good start last evening. The music was good and I enjoyed tremendous liberty to preach the Word of God. he Lord moved on hearts and the altar filled us as people came forward to honor God’s call. Please remember the pray for the rest of this week as it unfolds. Pray that souls will be saved, churches will be helped, pastors will be encouraged, the saints will be fed, and above all, that God will be glorified.

Oh yeah, sorry for being away from the keyboard for a while. I just haven’t been motivated to share much lately. Anyway, thank you for your faithfulness to visit we web site, even when nothing much is going on. I am still here and one day I will come back with a vengeance. Until then, I guess you will get it hit and miss, a little here, a little there.

He has spoken to hearts, met needs, encouraged us, challenged us and met with us in power and glory. I praise Him for His faithfulness! Please pray for us as we wrap up the meeting this evening. I trust the Lord will be gracious to help us once more for His glory.

In Meeting At Grace Baptist Church

The meeting at Grace Baptist began well last night. Their choir is a blessing and the special music touched my heart. I preached, but did not feel that it was my best effort. However, there was great move in the altar at the invitation. Please remember to pray for the meeting this week. We trust the Lord will help us and give us a powerful week of meeting. Brother Marcus Benfield is the Pastor. The church is located at 627 Rink Dam Road in Hickory, NC.

If you would, please pray for my wife. Joan has been in Oklahoma for the last few days visiting with her brother and his family. Pray that she will have a safe return trip home today.

Is It Sunday Already?

Thank God it is! I love the Lord’s Day. What a privilege is ours to be able to get up, get ready and to get out to the House of the Lord. I look forward to worshiping my Redeemer this Lord’s Day.

Well, the meeting at Magnolia Baptist in Crossett, AR ended well. The Lord met with us throughout the week. I appreciate His faithfulness. The Lord also gave great traveling grace as we made our way home on Friday. It is roughly 800 miles from our front door to Magnolia Baptist, but we made the trip to and from Arkansas without incident, other than some fatigue. It’s good to be home.

Anyway, I pray that you will have a blessed day in the church where you worship. Be sure to give the Lord that praise, adoration and attention He deserves.
