Hello From Crossett, Ar

After a long and epic journey, Joan and I arrived in Crossett, Ar yesterday for the meeting at Magnolia Baptist Church. We had a good trip. It was safe and relatively quick considering the fact that we drove 800 miles. Anyway, the meeting got underway last night, and we had a good service. I preached from Mark 2 about the need for getting a handle on the flesh. It was well received. The folk at Magnolia Baptist are good, down to earth folks. They are friendly, welcoming and seem to truly love the Lord. The Pastor, Mike Griffith, is a wonderful Brother in Jesus. He understands, embraces and preaches grace, and that makes him a true Brother in the battle. Please pray for the meeting. It will continue through Thursday evening. Joan and I will head home on Friday.

Very often in these meetings I am privileged to meet people that visit The Sermon Notebook. They will hear about our being in their area and they will come in for the meeting. Last night, I got to meet A.P. Owens. Brother Owens lives near Bastrop, LA and he came all the way to Crossett to attend the service. What an honor it is to meet these precious people along the path of life. Pray for Brother Owens and his church. His Pastor’s wife is battling leukemia. That family and the church is in dire need of prayer.

On a side note, when we left North Carolina, it was very warm, but there was no humidity. The farther South we drove the more humid it became. Yesterday, here in southern Arkansas, it was over 100 degrees and very humid. Pray for these folks. They are in the midst of a long drought and they need some relief in the form of rain. I noticed it was that way all across Mississippi and Arkansas. Also pray for them on this coming Saturday. Their Razorbacks face the Crimson Tide from Alabama. I am sure their will be weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth when the Tide rolls in and over the Hogs in Fayetteville. Oh well, thems the breaks, as they say.

A Quick Friday Update

I have been staying away from the old blog for various reasons. I just thought I would stop by for a moment today to let everyone know that I was still alive and well. The Lord has been blessing at Calvary lately. I appreciate how He works among His people and in His church. I am looking for Him to do some great things for us in the future.

Lord willing, Joan and I will leave for Arkansas Sunday evening. I will be with Brother Michael Griffith and the good folks at Magnolia Baptist Church in Crossett, AR. If you are in the area, please come by and worship with us. I would ask that all of you pray for the meeting.

Aren’t you grateful for true friends? I am talking about the friend that contacts you out of the blue just to encourage you in your walk with the Lord. Where would we be without people like that? There are many people around us who can do little but criticize. Thank God for the ones who are like a cool drink of water on a hot day. Thank God for those friends who, like the Holy Spirit, come alongside you to offer aid and comfort as we walk the path of life. To all my friends out there, and you know who you are, I love you and I thank God for you! Hallelujah!

Meeting At Southside Baptist in Morganton, NC

I am beginning a meeting tonight with Southside Baptist Church in Morganton, NC. The Pastor is Brother Randy Clark. Lord willing, we will meet at Southside through Thursday night. Please remember us in prayer as we seek the Lord for revival during these days of meeting. I would also mention that Brother Scott Moneyham, Pastor of Trinity Baptist in Drexel, NC, is preaching at Liledoun Baptist where Brother James Lockee is the Pastor. The meeting at Liledoun will continue through Friday night. Pray for these meetings and attend if you can. The Lord knows that our churches need need revival. The Lord knows that church people need revival. One of the surest ways for us to receive what we need from the Lord is for us to make His house, His Word and His worship a priority in our lives. Until we do, nothing of any great significance will happen in us or through us. So, find a good meeting and get in on it!

Meeting Extended

The meeting at Wayside Baptist in Taylorsville was supposed to end last night, but it has been extended for one more service right now. The Pastor is talking about going on next week, if the Lord sees fit to lead him in that direction. Pray for the meeting. It has been going very well and I praise the Lord for His grace and blessings.

That’s all I have time for today. I hope to get back to some more serious blogging in the near future.

Good First Night

The first night of meeting at Wayside Baptist in Taylorsville, NC went very well last night. The singing was good and the Lord helped us in the preaching moment. The people responded well to the message and came before Him to do business in His altars. Please continue to pray for the meeting. We need to see the Lord move in power in these days, and Wayside Baptist Church would be a great place for it to happen.

Post-Conference Thoughts

Our Bible Conference went extremely well this past week. The preaching was exceptional in every service. I praise the Lord for His presence in the services. I appreciate all the preachers who took their time to come to the meeting. It was a tremendous week and I am thankful for everything I experienced. We were allowed to see Jesus Christ in His glory and power. We were allowed to experience God as He manifested Himself among His people. Thanks for coming to the meeting if you did. Thanks for praying for the meeting if you did. It was wonderful!

I pray that you will have a great day in the Father’s House today!

El Bethel

We had another great service last night at the El Bethel Baptist Assembly. The choir from Casey Creek Baptist Church in Chesnee, SC provided the music for the service. They did a great job. Brother Gary Adkins is the Pastor of Casey Creek. He is a great man of God. I would appreciate it if you would continue to pray for the meeting. I would love to see the Lord move in power for His glory during the meeting. Well, I’ve got to get busy preparing for this evening’s service.

El Bethel Baptist Assembly

I am preaching this week at the El Bethel Baptist Assembly in Spartanburg, SC. We had a great service last night. A group of young people from a church in the area, who go by the name Blood Bought, did an excellent job with the music. I preached from Matthew 17, and the Lord blessed His Word. The El Bethel Baptist Assembly is a camp meeting comprised of several local churches. It has been going on some 60 years. It is a wonderful meeting and well worth attending. The people are very open to the things of the Lord and the Pastors who are involved are good, godly men. I am looking forward to a great week in the Lord. Please help us pray for the meeting as we seek the Lord and His touch. Pray for also as we travel back and forth each day. It is a little over 100 miles each way, so I leave early and get in late. At any rate, please pray for the meeting!
